Jacksonville, Florida- An all star cast of world talent will be vying for the 14.1 and 10-Ball titles at the 1st Annual Lucasi Hybrid Classic July 30-Aug 3 at Bankshot Billiards in Jacksonville ,Florida. Players from Philippines, Germany, Finland, Mexico, Japan, Spain, Russia, and the USA will be battling out over 4 days of hot action near the Jacksonville beaches.
Dennis Orcullo, recent winner of the Qatar 9-Ball Championship, is currently the hottest player in the Philippines and will be leading the foreign stars in the hunt for the Lucasi championship events. He will be followed by fellow countryman Santos Sambajon. European contingent will include the likes of Mika Immonen (FIN), Thorsten Hohmann (GER) , Han Berberoglu (RUS), Marc Vidal (SPN), and German Junior Champion 16 year old Dominic Jentsch.
In the Straight Pool division, 2006 World 14.1 Champion Thorsten Hohmann will be coming in as the #1 seed. John Schmidt of the USA will be coming in as the #2 seed. Other notable favorites will include 2007 3rd Place World 14.1 finisher Dennis Orcullo, Johnny Archer USA, Mika Immonen, and NYC favorite Danny Barouty.
The 10-Ball division will be stacked tough with Shane Van Boening coming in as the top seed. Van Boening made his first major win mark in Jacksonville a year ago winning the World 10-Ball Championship and will be returning to continue his win streak in Florida. Other top seeds include Corey Deuel (USA), Orcullo, Mike Davis (USA), Hohmann, Archer, Immonen, Schmidt, Charlie Williams (USA), Sambajon (PHI) and Stevie Moore (USA).
Open spots are still available in all the Ozone Billiards US Amateur Open events and players are encouraged to sign up at the event in person as plenty of open spots are still available in the Open, Women's, and Seniors.
All the events are sponsored by Lucasi Hybrid, Cue & Case, Ozone Billiards, and Bankshot Billiards. Official equipment is Simonis Cloth, Aramith Balls, Master Chalk, and Delta-13 Rack. Clothing wear will be available at event by Gambler Clothing and cue repair by Image Que's John Spidel.
