Fisher & Ouschan Head European Syndicate to Manila for Women's World 10-Ball Championship

Manila, Philippines- Great Britain's Allison Fisher and Austria's Jasmin Ouschan are among the brightest stars from Europe that will be contesting to be the World 10-Ball Champion at SM Mall North Edsa June 2-6,2009. 48 top women pros from around the world will enter the historic event produced by Dragon Promotions. The event is supported by JBETpoker.net, ABS-CBN, SM Mall North Edsa, Bugsy Promotions and recognized by the BMPAP and BSCP.



Fisher is considered to be the greatest female billiards player ever in history by most experts, winning 72 world class titles. Fisher has been dominant for a decade with falling out of the #1 or #2 spot only once in 10 years. Fisher also has taken down top men pros such as USA Champion Johnny Archer, Hall of Famer Allen Hopkins, and former US Open Champion Tommy Kennedy. Jasmin Ouschan, the 22 year old pool wizard from Austria, won the World Games Gold Medal at 18 years old and has won many major titles already in her young career. Ouschan also has had a good record against top men players including wins over World Champion Mika Immonen and Oliver Ortmann. Ouschan holds the record for highest finish by a woman in a major men's event by placing 3rd at the 2008 World Straight Pool Championship.



Jasmin Ouschan will easily be one of the top ten favorites of the event



"Allison has as much composure as any man or woman I've encountered my entire life", observed Jay Helfert, billiard analyst and author.


Other top favorites from the west include 2008 Women's Player of the Year Kelly Fisher (England), Gerda Hofstatter (Austria), Spanish Champion Amalia Matas, and former #1 Karen Corr (Ireland). Corr for many years was considered to be Allison's Fisher only real rival on the women's tour. Other countries represented will be Czechoslovakia's Veronika Hubrtova, former European Champion Laetitia Dos Santos of France, Janine Schwan of Germany, and Tamara Trademakers of Netherlands. The historic event is considered to be the biggest women's sporting event of the year for the Philippines, and will have massive media attention including 25 hours of live coverage on ABS-CBN, the leading TV channel of the Philippines. 48 women from around the globe will attend the event vying for $20,000 (1M) 1st place prize out of the $75,000 (3.75M) purse available. Open qualifiers for the event will be held May 31 and June 1 in Manila. May 31 location will be set soon while June 1 will be set at SM Mall North Edsa. All players are welcomed to join to try to qualify for the event. There will be three qualifiers over the two days with three winners entered into the main 48 women field.
